From basic to standout

First impressions are important, and how you approach the entry of a house is no different. Whether you are a guest approaching for the first time, or the owner approaching for the first time that day, this concept was central to delivering a space to the owners of this home that not only told a story about who the owners are, but also served as a functional space in their daily routine.

The owners wanted to create a front porch that not only welcomed their guests before they entered the home, while also provided a seating area and an opportunity to showcase some art and style. The new porch carries the tile floor from the existing vestibule out to the front of the house, and uses the same charcoal grey and wood tones that appear in the house. The dividing wall provides a great spot for a one off mural from a local artist and friend of the owner’s while also defining the seating area that was added to the front of the house. A rain chain and landscaping not only help to control the water coming down the hill which had been a source of leaks in the past, but also adds design details that help to soften the front of the house, and make it more approachable.

With a little bit of thought, planning, and creative thinking, we changed this project from “we want a front porch” to “we have a totally new house”.

I built a relationship with Bevel. They’ve turned this house into our dream home and every time I turn on my street, I’m super proud. There are all these basic homes, but our’s really stands out and looks cool, and that’s thanks to Bevel.
